The Freedom Fund Committee shall plan and conduct fundraising activities, entertainment and other projects, for local and national purposes within the scope of the Association’s program.
Award Categories
The Freedom Awards are presented to individuals and organizations whose practices are consistent with the local and national goals of the NAACP.
RISING STAR
Presented to a high school student(s) who maintains a GPA of 3.0 or above during the school year. The student must perform community service activities which enhance and improve the local community.
GO FORTH & PROSPER
Presented to a young adult who excelled academically during his or her college career and is actively pursuing their career goals.
PRESIDENT'S AWARD
Presented at the discretion of the Branch President to an individual or organization who consistently shows a commitment to improving the quality of life for others in the community without regard to race, creed or color.
BUSINESS & INDUSTRY
Presented to the individual or business organization that has worked to provide economic, training and employment opportunities for disadvantaged individuals or groups through direct actions taken by their organization.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Presented to the person or group that has demonstrated by their volunteer work in this community a commitment to improving the quality of life for all humanity without
regard to race, creed or color.
PUBLIC SERVICE
Presented to the organization or individual that has
consistently used a public position or public resources to enhance or improve the social, economic or political state of a traditionally disenfranchised group.
EDUCATION
Presented to the individual or organization that has worked
to provide quality education to disadvantaged youth in this community as an educator or through mentoring or tutoring programs.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT
Presented to an individual with a verifiable history of community service and civic activism focused on the preservation and protection of civil and human rights. The activities of this individual must be supportive of and consistent with the local and national goals of the NAACP.
