The Sarasota Branch NAACP’s Defending Democracy Toolkit is a growing collection of easy-to-understand resources designed to help our community better understand how government works—and how each of us can make a meaningful difference.

Too often, decisions that affect our schools, neighborhoods, voting rights, housing, public safety, and tax dollars happen without residents knowing where those decisions are made or how to influence them. This toolkit bridges that gap by breaking down complex government processes into clear, accessible information that empowers everyday citizens to participate confidently in civic life.
